Built in 1891, ALMA is a classic San Francisco Bay Scow schooner with a flat bottom, center board & two gaff rigged masts built for carrying hay & other simple cargos throughout the Bay Area. the last of these original vessel remaining, ALMA is owned by San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. During my tenure with the National Park Service I was responsible for ensuring her rig operated safely.
