The sloop PROVIDENCE was launched in 1976 as a replica of the Revolutionary War era vessel once commanded by John Paul Jones. We hired her in 2004 as one of the vessels for Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3 & re-rigged her with more historically accurate appearing shrouds & running rigging. I went out to Rhode Island (during a blizzard!) to remove her deadeyes & have them re-grooved by a local boat builder to fit the larger diameter shrouds. Then I met the vessel in February in Bayou La Batre, Alabama where we performed the rest of the work of replacing all of the rigging. Filming took place in St. Vincent.
