CHARLES W. MORGAN

Mystic Seaport’s CHARLES W. MORGAN is the last American wooden whaling ship, built in 1841. After a thorough restoration, she sailed for the last time in 2014. Now back to her role as a museum display, she still needs ongoing maintenance. Due to budgetary constraints, she has a much reduced staff to take care of her needs. In 2024, I was brought out twice to do a condition assessment & some recommended maintenance working in the rig. This included leading a tarring session with her interpretative staff, tensioning the lower shrouds, replacing ratlines, & cockbilling the yards for the winter.
